Bye-bye summer, fall is coming. I’m absolutely thrilled that my favorite time of the year is almost here. With the changing weather also comes a change in style choices. One of the trickiest things in the morning for me is deciding whether I want to risk being hot all day by wearing a long sleeve shirt or to risk being cold by wearing a tank top. My style advice during the summer-to-fall transition period is to think about layering your tops.

Thinking about how well a piece of clothing can be layered will keep you from regretting your style choices throughout the day. Right now, most days in Illinois are usually a little bit cooler in the morning and at night, then during the day it feels hotter than hell. I prefer to wear lighter articles of clothing that can easily be worn under a light jacket or cardigan. I’ve come up with a list of tops that can easily help you transition your style choices from summer-to-fall.

Off The Shoulder Tops

The first top option is the off the shoulder top. I love off the shoulder tops because they are usually made of a lightweight material that can easily be layered with a jacket. The one in the photograph above is from Xo Mandy Sue (ad) which I am now proudly a brand representative for. You can shop this top here (ad) and other like this below. You can also use my code MAZCIEL (ad) for 35% off on the Xo Mandy Sue Site. These tops are great for the summer-to-fall transition period.

T- Shirts

T-shirts are one of the easiest things to style and layer. Not only are they lightweight and easy to layer, but you can also tie them up and make them looked cropped on a really hot day.

Button Down Tops

Button down tops are great for every season. I prefer sheer button down tops for the summer. They can be worn with a really cute bralette underneath or with a longer sleeve top underneath for more coverage. You can also tie them up for a more casual look. If it’s a bit colder try throwing on a cute sweater over it and have the collar and sleeves poking out; it will add more of a sophisticated vibe.

Cropped Tops

Cropped tops are another really versatile item to wear. They can be worn with shorts, leggings, skirts, and jeans. You can easily layer on a light jacket for cooler weather. If its a tighter fit cropped top you can also wear it underneath a button down top.

Another really fun way to transition your cropped tops from summer to fall is under dresses. I have a video on my YouTube channel where I style one dress in a variety of different ways. Check it out to see how you can layer it with a long sleeve cropped top.
