Wicked (ad) is a great adult fantasy trilogy to read if you want a lot of romance, great dialog and banter between characters. This series takes place in New Orleans and Armentrout does a great job at making you feel like you’re right there with the characters.
CRESCENT CITY BY SARAH J. MAAS
Crescent City is the first book in an adult fantasy fiction series with not only fae characters but also angels, mermaids and more. Not only is the world building in Crescent City fantastic but the character development that you get to see with the main character is also great. This is definitely one to pick up if you want to read something with a complex magical world, heartbreak and a lot of romance.
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES BY SARAH J. MAAS
Another incredible YA series by Sarah J. Maas to add to your reading list is A Court of Thorns and Roses (ad). I would say the first book in the series is loosely inspired / a retelling of Beauty and the Beast but with fairies instead. This series quickly develops and comes into its own unique story.
Disclaimer: This series is technically YA but there are a lot of mature scenes in this series that you might not think are appropriate for a younger audience. So if you are a parent thinking about buying these books for someone younger you might want to look into more in depth reviews.
THRONE OF GLASS SERIES BY SARAH J. MAAS
Sarah J. Maas does an incredible job at writing fairy themed fantasy. The Throne of Glass (ad) YA series is no exception. There are a few different plots within this series so if you like to read books that have characters with a complex backstory then this is for you.
THE CRUEL PRINCE BY HOLLY BLACK
The Cruel Prince (ad) is the first book in the fantastic YA fantasy series Folk of Air. It takes place in a dangerous dark world where the fae are not necessarily the kindest beings. There’s danger, romance and deception; it’s truly incredible fiction.
AN ENCHANTMENT OF RAVENS BY MARGARET ROGERSON
If you are looking for a short but beautiful fairy fantasy book then look no further than An Enchantment of Ravens (ad). This is a standalone novel with so much magic and romance. This book is one to pick up if you want a quick magical read.
