Happy New Year!
The time has come for me to do another blog post on my favorite books of the year. Not all of the books that I read this year were new releases. I read a lot of books, there are some that I can’t even remember anymore, but here are the ones that really stood out to me.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Night Circus was such a fun read. This book was unlike any other book I have ever read. It was magical, the characters were interesting, and the storyline was original. You can read more of my thoughts on The Night Circus here.
Marlena by Julie Buntin
It has been months since I finished reading Marlena by Julie Buntin and I still find myself thinking about this book. It is a book about friendship, loss, and coming to terms with your past. You’re going to have to read it to to find out more.
A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows, and A Conjuring of Light by V. E. Schwab
A Darker Shade of Magic was the first book I read by V.E. Schwab (read more about my thoughts on it here). After reading three books written by her all within one year, I can’t wait to read even more. Schwab has created a beautiful magical world that is filled with a lot of magic, multiple Londons and really interesting characters with great personalities (Rhy is my favorite character). This is a fantastic fantasy series.
The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer
I really enjoyed reading The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo. It is filled with essays that will make you laugh, some will make you feel sad and others might make you feel different emotions.
Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins
Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins was similar to Amy Schumer’s book in the way that It made me feel different emotions with each essay. I love the way that it was written and I hope she decides to write more in the future.
South and West by Joan Didion
I read South and West after seeing it mentioned on the Belletrist Instagram page and I am glad that I did. I really enjoyed reading this. Her writing about her experiences in the south was so interesting and I can’t wait to read more of her books.
