how to read more books

Reading is one of my greatest passions in life. From a young age I remember always wanting to consume as many books as possible and buy all the books. My mom literally dreaded when my school would send me home with a Scholastic catalog. Do they still send those? Well over the years I have hundreds of books and I am here to tell you how you can read more books even when you’re super busy.

How To Read More Books

Audiobooks

Audiobooks are a controversial topic in the book community. There are many who love audiobooks and others who don’t consider it reading. If you love immersing yourself in a good story but don’t have the time to physically sit down and read a book then audiobooks are definitely the way to go.

You can listen to free audiobooks with a library card on the Libby app as well as on the Hoopla app. I personally like to customize how fast the audiobook plays (1.25 speed) and I love it.

By listening to audiobooks you can get reading time in when you’re cleaning, driving, cooking, working out, crafting and showering. This is a fantastic fast way to read more books for all you super busy people out there.

Amazing Audiobooks

Take A Book With You Everywhere

Taking a book with you everywhere ensures that when you have a little bit of extra time you can fit in some reading. Again, you don’t have to take a physical book with you if you have a reading app on your phone.

Read On A Tablet

This tip is something that has worked for me so I thought I’d share it with you all, and that is to read on a tablet. I don’t know why, but for some reason I tend to read faster on a tablet than with a physical book. I think it’s because a tablet or phone is easier to hold than a 700 + page book. If there is any scientific studies on this I do not know, but it has worked for me.

Delete Time Consuming Apps From Your Phone

If you tend to spend a lot of your time on your phone consider deleting some social media apps. Instead of spending hours on an app consider picking up a book when you have extra leisure time. I have deleted some of the most time consuming apps off my phone and that has definitely helped me to read more in the past.

Read Before Bed

Going off the previous tip I would suggest reading before bed instead of spending time scrolling on your phone. This is something that I have worked on a lot, and I find that I definitely get a lot more reading done this way.
