Fall is almost officially here and I know I am not the only one excited for fall fashion. One fall trend that never seems to go out of style is plaid. I particularly look forward to wearing plaid skirts every fall. There is just something about a great plaid skirt, a great pair of boots and a nice blouse that screams fall to me. Therefore, todays post is going to be all about the different ways to style a plaid skirt for fall.
HOW TO STYLE A PLAID SKIRT FOR FALL
DARK ACADEMIA & PLAID
I can’t think of dark academia without thinking of plaid. Dark academia aesthetic and plaid are just the absolute perfect pair. You can wear your favorite plaid skirt with a simple blouse and blazer, or a cozy oversized sweater. As far as shoes go you can wear knee-high, thigh-high boots, ankle boots or Oxford shoes to complete your dark academia look.

MINIMAL EVERYDAY PLAID SKIRT OUTFIT
If you want the plaid skirt to speak for itself then try wearing it with a plain tee or long sleeve top. The more minimal the top the better. For this minimal plaid skirt outfit try pairing it with ankle boots or loafers.
EDGY PLAID SKIRT OUTFIT WITH A BAND TEE
Looking for an edgier way to style a plaid skirt? Style it with your band tee of choice and a pair of chunky boots. My go-to pair of boots for this style of outfit are the Dr. Marten Platform Jadon Boots (ad); these boots always seem to take outfits to the next level.
HOW TO WEAR PLAID TO WORK
A great workwear appropriate outfit you could try is a plaid skirt with a turtleneck sweater. If you are not a turtleneck sweater type of person you could try styling your plaid skirt with a blouse and a blazer over it. Throw on your favorite pair of heels or boots and you are good to go.
If you would like to add more layers to this outfit you can also wear tights (ad) under your skirt for a little bit more coverage. This outfit works well with plaid pants as well if skirts are not your thing.
GRUNGE FALL OUTFIT
To add a grunge look to your plaid outfit try layering oversized clothing items. Oversized flannels are great especially if the print clashes a little bit. You can layer on leather jackets, and oversized chunky cardigans as well. A nice twist to wearing tights with this outfit is to look for tights with a print to them or even ripped tights will work. As far as shoes go you can wear converse, combat boots, Mary Janes; you can’t really go wrong here.
