Lately I have been trying out a lot of new makeup products. Since starting my own YouTube channel I have been watching a lot of beauty videos and I always see people recommend drugstore makeup. So of course I really wanted to try out some products for myself.
Growing up I never really had the opportunity to try drugstore makeup. When I wanted to start wearing makeup in high school my mom was really into Lancome and Estee Lauder. I remember her taking me to the mall and going to a Lancome counter. I was able to pick up a few makeup and skincare products and that was where my love for all things beauty started.
I have also been using some old favorites that are not drugstore products that I like and wanted to write about here.
L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
This was a product I purchased because my sister swore that it was a great foundation. I also saw a lot of people talk about it on YouTube so I was excited to try it out. I found this to be hard to blend with a brush so I ended up using my hands to apply it and that worked okay. However, I got the shade 107 which was the closest shade to my skin color and when I applied it it ended up looking really orange on me. It’s not one that I will repurchase.
Pacifica Alight Clean Foundation
This foundation blends and looks absolutely beautiful on my skin. I got the shade 25WM and it is a perfect match. It says that it is an “oil free anti –shine + satin finish”, although it is a satin finish on my skin it looked really dewy and it didn’t dry down completely. Every time I would touch my face, or rest my hand on my face a lot of foundation would end up on my hands. I did set my foundation with powder and that didn’t help it stay on my face longer. At first I thought that it was because it’s really hot and humid where I live right now but this didn’t happen with the L’oreal foundation or any of my other foundations. I will wear it on days I want to take a quick outfit picture but I don’t plan on wearing it on days where I want my foundation to last all day.
Pacifica Natural Minerals Liquid Cover Full Coverage Lasting Concealer
I ran into the same problems with this concealer as the foundation. The foundation has light to medium coverage whereas the concealer has very light coverage on me. It looks very beautiful but again it doesn’t last long on my face and it also creases under my eyes. I love a lot of Pacifica’s skincare products so I look forward to trying more of their products in the future.
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
This is my all time favorite concealer. I think it has light to medium coverage and it just works really well with my skin. I get the shade Medium 2 Ginger and it’s perfect. I always set this concealer and it lasts all day.
Kylie Jenner Velvet Liquid Lipstick
This was the first Kylie lipstick that I ever purchased and I got it in the shade “Shook”. It’s a really pretty shade. I know it’s a velvet lipstick but it doesn’t last long at all so I always have to constantly reapply. You only get 0.11 oz of product so if I were to wear this lipstick a lot I feel like I would run out pretty fast. I personally prefer the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams as my go-to everyday lipsticks. Those are comfortable on the lips, they have some similar shades to some of the Kylie Lipsticks and you get 0.27 oz of product. I do want to try out some of Kylie’s matte lipsticks and lip glosses. She has some really pretty shades that I think I will love.
Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Super Volume Mascara
This is a great mascara for those that want volume. I like to apply two coats to get the look that I want. I do wish that it would give my lashes more of a dramatic length as well. One thing that I did notice while wearing this mascara is that when my eyes water my mascara would smudge at the corners of my eyes. This doesn’t happen with all of the mascaras that I try. My favorite is the Bad Gal Bang mascara from Benefit and that one last all day.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette
I really like the Soft Glam palette. The shades blend beautifully and I really love the matte shades in this palette. It’s great for everyday eyeshadow looks and you can create some really pretty going out looks as well.
