When you’re visiting a new place for the first time it can be very easy to get overwhelmed fast. There are so many places to see and so little time. Going to London for the first time was a dream come true and lucky for you I kept track of all of the places that I think are a must see for your trip to London. This Ultimate London Travel Guide will go over all of the places you don’t want to miss.
Ultimate London Travel Guide: Places You Don’t Want To Miss
YOU MUST SEE GREEN PARK & BUCKINGHAM PALACE
Green park is a gorgeous park that you can take a morning stroll on your way to see the guard change at Buckingham Palace. You can see more of this in my London Vlog.
GO ON THE LONDON EYE
The London Eye is a must. If you want to see London from high above and get some really cool photography shots then the London Eye is definitely something to add to your list. This is a very popular place to visit so the lines will most likely be long. The day that I went the lines were really long but they moved by fairly quickly.
TAKE A LONDON RIVER CRUISE
Taking a London River Cruise is a great way to see London from a different perspective on the River Thames. Going under the Tower Bridge for example was incredible. The cruise that I went on offered afternoon tea. However, keep in mind that the desserts might not be vegan or gluten free. So, if you have different dietary needs I recommend calling or emailing in advance to see their food options.
GO SEE TOWER BRIDGE
Tower Bridge is an iconic place to see in London. I must admit I really wanted to see this because of Harry Potter. If you take a river cruise you most likely will get to see Tower Bridge.
GO TO SHAKESPEARE’S GLOBE
If you are a Shakespeare fan then you have to see the Shakespeare Globe. I only got to see it from the outside, but it was still incredible to see it. Even if you are not a theatre fan I still say add it to your list of places to visit. It’s located in the Borough of Southwark, London which is a beautiful place for walk by the way.
WALK ON MILLENNIUM BRIDGE
Another must see place especially if you are a Harry Potter fan is Millennium Bridge. If you remember that scene with the Death Eaters and a bridge – this is that bridge! Millennium Bridge is a pretty cool build. It’s a short walk from Shakespeare’s Globe; you can see both places on the same day if you wish.
Fun Fact: if you look at all of the gum on Millennium bridge you will find really small artwork on it. Shoutout to our amazing tour guide who let us know small cool facts like this.
WITNESS ST. PAUL’S CATHEDRAL’S BEAUTY
St. Paul’s Cathedral is absolutely beautiful. If you are into architecture this is a must see.
Travel Tip: You can see St. Paul’s Cathedral, Millennium Bridge and Shakespeare’s Globe in the same day since they are fairly close to each other. If you get hungry then you can walk to Borough Market for some food.
EAT AT BOROUGH MARKET
Borough Market is by far one of the best food markets I’ve ever seen. They have so many different food options from all over the world. When I went they had a few vegan stands which was great to see.
The great thing about Borough Markets location is that it is a close walk to Shakespeare’s Globe, Millennium Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral, so you can see all of these places in one day. It is also close to a lot of other restaurants and small shops.
SHOP TILL YOU DROP AT CAMDEN MARKET
Another great market to visit is Camden Market. I talked a little bit about this in my vegan London food guide. Camden Market is a great place to shop and get food. The food options are phenomenal. They had everything from falafel to pizza to vegan burgers; it was amazing.
The shopping was also great. They have so many different vendors. You can buy anything from jewelry to clothing to tarot decks. Amazing.
GO EAT AT MERCATO METROPOLITANO
Mercato Metropolitano is a great place to get food. If you are traveling with a group of people with different dietary needs this is a great place to stop by. When I visited they had a few vegan options which was great. It gets pretty busy so just keep that in mind.
GO TO A SERVICE AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY
Westminster Abbey is pure magic. This is a great place to add to your list if you love history and architecture.
Travel Tip: On Sundays they don’t allow tourist so if you want to visit on a Sunday you have to sit through a service- which I did and it was beautiful. After your visit you can go into the little gift shop outside and buy a few souvenirs.
GO SEE THE BIG BEN
Another iconic London landmark to add to your list is the Big Ben. It’s a beautiful sight and I recommend going in the morning when there is still not a lot of people walking around.
Travel Tip: If you take the Jubilee underground line to Westminster it will take you right next to the Big Ben
SHOP & EAT IN COVENT GARDEN
Last but certainly not least in this Ultimate London Travel Guide is Covent Garden. I visited on my first day in London at night time and OMG it was magical. Covent Garden is a great place to shop and get food. There are so many shops and restaurants; it’s amazing. Covent Garden is definitely a place you want to add to your places to visit in London.
