Let’s start off with the classic 90s grunge look. In my opinion it was the 90s grunge fashion that really made grunge popular. Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love in particular are two of the people who’s style has inspired many thought the years, including myself. This blog post is largely inspired by these two iconic artists.
90s Grunge Outfit With Jeans
The perfect grunge outfit with jeans would feature baggy jeans and a loose t-shirt.
With this type of outfit you can definitely layer. Cardigans, flannels and oversized jackets would look great. This is a classic grunge look.
90s Grunge Look Featuring a Dress
Looking for how to dress grunge with a dress? Try out babydoll dresses, and slip dresses. You can wear them with fishnets or simple black tights. Courtney Love, Taylor Momsen, and Olivia Rodrigo are great people to look for inspiration when it comes to this type of outfit.

Soft Grunge Aesthetic Outfit
Soft grunge is similar to soft goth in my opinion. It’s a more subtle way to dress in that aesthetic. Muted colors and layering in similar tones rather than clashing colors and prints is the way to go.
A great example would be an all black outfit with a dark brown cardigan or a sweater in a dark color layered over it.
Baggy jeans, a simple top and a cardigan is another great soft grunge outfit idea and it also gives a little bit of Y2K vibes.
You can also style overalls, your top of choice, fishnets and chunky boots for the perfect soft grunge outfit aesthetic.
For a soft grunge lounge look try out wearing your favorite cozy sweats a cropped top and a flannel layered over it. This is one of my personal favorite lounge looks.

Rock Festival Outfits
Looking for the best grunge outfit to wear to your next concert? Try out some loose fitting ripped jeans with fishnets underneath. This is my favorite way to style loose fitting jeans especially in the fall and winter. The fishnets under the jeans is a unique look and will definitely make the outfit stand out.
For tops you can go for a loose fitting shirt or a formfitting cropped top. I’d personally go for a cropped form fitting top with this look in order to not distract from the jeans and fishnets.
An oversized tee dress with thigh-high boots will also make for a great festival or concert look. It’s simple but the thigh-high boots make the outfit stand out. You can also layer on fishnets or tights. This is one of my favorite go-to outfits.
Alternative Office Outfit
Alt corporate outfits have been a little bit of an obsession of mine lately. I love how with a little bit of creativity you can create chic alternative business casual outfits.
For an edgy office outfit stick with darker colors. Dark plaid trousers paired with a black sweater or blazer would look great. Grunge office attire can very easily look goth as well. I find that anything plaid tends to give the overall look a hint of grunge.
Depending on what type of office you work in you might be able to get away with wearing a graphic tee. If you are allowed to then you can wear a graphic tee under a blazer and some loose fitting jeans or flare dress pants. Boots or healed boots will look great with this outfit.

Casual Edgy Outfits
A great casual grunge outfit for school or everyday would consist of leggings, band tee, oversized jacket, cardigan or flannel with your favorite sneakers.
This outfit is comfortable and works great for the colder months because of all of the layers.
Chic Baggy Fits
Baggy outfits fit great within the grunge outfit aesthetic. Loose fitting jeans, a long sleeve shirt layered under a baggy graphic tee would look super cute.
I have talked about layering long sleeve and short sleeve shirts under dresses before, and the long sleeve shirts works really well with baggy band tees as well. This is a great grunge outfit for winter option.

The Perfect Travel Outfit
Grunge outfits are perfect for traveling especially if you overpacked. This outfit is all about the layers. Take the baggy outfit from above and layer on a thick cardigan, and jacket. Again, this outfit is perfect for the colder months.
Comfy Grunge Outfits
For a great comfy lounge outfit take your favorite pair of leggings and oversized tee and you have a great outfit for lounging around the house or for everyday wear.
If it’s hot out you can swap the leggings for some biker shorts.

Summer Alt Outfits
For a casual summer outfit you can wear some comfy biker shorts with a cropped top and layer on an oversized flannel.
For a dressier summer look you can try a spagetti strap dress with a long sleeve sheer top with a cool pattern underneath.
A mini, midi or maxi skirt with a graphic tee would make for the perfect summer grunge outfit aesthetic. A monochromatic outfit will also look super chic. For example, a white skirt with a white graphic tee and some boots would look great.
Dark Feminine Outfits
If dark femme outfits are more your thing but you want a hint of grunge then this look might work for you. Try out a dark colored slip dress, tights, and boots with a heel. An oversized blazer, denim jacket, or leather jacket will look super chic layered over your dress.
The way I would style this type of outfit is by wearing a dark colored dress with a pretty print, black tights, tall chunky boots, and a baggy leather jacket. Again, one could argue that this look is a bit more goth but I think it has great grunge vibes especially with the baggy jacket.

Simple Grunge Outfits
Distressed jeans or shorts with a graphic or plain tee makes for a perfect simple grunge look. The older or more distressed the jeans and shirt look the better.
Loose fitting dress pants, a cropped top with a cardigan layered over it is another great simple outfit but with a tad bit dressier vibe with the pants.
