One of the best things about holidays other than holiday movies and decor is gift giving. There’s something so special about going to a store and thoughtfully picking up a few things for loved ones. Halloween boo baskets are especially fun because they’re just so magical. If you want to create your own boo basket for Halloween but don’t know where to start this blog post will walk you through all of the things you can include in your boo baskets.
DIY BOO BASKET FOR HALLOWEEN
CHOOSING A BAG OR BASKET
The first thing you want to do is pick up a basket or bag that will be big enough for all of the items you will be including. I knew I wanted to include a lot of snacks in mine so I chose the biggest trick-or-treating baskets I could find. I found mine at the Dollar Tree.
You can also choose regular baskets or containers that are not holiday themed. The benefit of choosing a regular basket is that they will be able to use it to store items year-round.
WHAT TO PUT IN A BOO BASKET
When choosing items to include in boo baskets I think of three things: what they want, what they need, and something fun. By doing this I feel like it will be a more well rounded gift basket. I always want my gift baskets to have a few things that they can use beyond the holiday season as well as fun items they wouldn’t usually buy for themselves.
BOO BASKET EXAMPLES
Inside my nephews boo baskets I included Halloween snacks, candy, matching shirts for fall, a toy, books, sticker/ activity books, bubble wands, and a Halloween cup (ad).
Inside my sisters boo basket I included a Halloween mug, and snacks, candy, hair clips of different sizes, mini granola bars, and cute comfy socks.
Your boo baskets can be as fancy or as simple as you want.
SETTING UP YOUR SPOOKY BAG OR BASKET
Once you have all of your items it is time to set it all up. You can fill the bottom of the basket with tissue paper, gift paper shreds, or snacks. For example, on the boo baskets that I did for my nephews and sister, I filled about a quarter of the baskets with small Halloween pretzel snacks and chips that they can take on the go. I know that they love snacks so I thought that would be a great way to fill the bottom of the basket.
Next choose the bigger gift items you will be including and assemble. I find it easier to assemble a gift basket by arranging the bigger items first because they tend to be more difficult to arrange. After that, you can start filling in the gaps with smaller gifts or candy.
